Delegates Impressed with KL Tower’s Success
Kuala Lumpur, Sept 4 2007- The World Federation of Great Towers Conference 2007 started on a bright note yesterday after the arrival of the delegates on Sunday. Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad, the chief executive officer of Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd, said the delegates were overwhelmed and fascinated with the warm well come given by their Malaysian counterparts. “They were amazed by the reception we gave” said Zulkifli. He said as the delegates arrived on Merdeka Eve, the management made preparations to ensure their smooth arrival. “They were thankful and had not stopped talking about it until today”. Zulkifli said the second day of the conference saw WFGT s secretary general Mike Wiggins giving updates on WFGT which received approval from the delegates. Zulkifli also gave a presentation which included an overview of Malaysia s tourism industry and KL Tower which could be seen as a refresher for some and something new for other delegates. “I shared the signature events held at KL Tower and also the various strategies we have adopted in attracting foreign and local tourists” said Zulkifli. He said there was another session where there was a thorough briefing on the KL Tower and a video when it was still under construction. “I invited the first CEO of Menara KL Sdn Bhd as one of the speakers. We received a lot of questions on the various aspects of KL Tower so we had all these people to answer the questions” said Zulkifli. He said the delegates were also brought on atour of the tower. “We showed them the safety facilities at the tower and also the observation deck. The delegates were fascinated with the audio visual presentation which was prepared by KRU Bhd” Zulkifli said. He added that some of the delegates were interested in the audio visual showcase that was available at the tower and wanted to know more about it. “I was proud to say that it was developed by a Malaysian company and I am taking this opportunity to highlight the capabilities of Malaysian companies” he said. He said it was a Learning experience for the delegates and many were proud to see their towers being featured at the World Telecommunications Towers Gallery at the KL Tower. “Later in the afternoon we brought them to see another tower, the Petronas Twin Towers, with a presentation to give them a better understanding of the two buildings” Zulkifli said”. He added that the second day would end with a dinner at Seri Melayu restaurant with the theme Pahlawan Melayu. “The staff at the restaurant will be dressed in Malay warrior outfits and they will be served local food supported by cultural shows which we hope will entertain the delegates besides giving them a closer look at Malaysian culture” he said.
